Fruta Conquerors slammed three unanswered goals past the Georgetown Football Club while Sunburst Camptown and Alpha United played to a 3-3 draw when the Guyana Football Assoc-iation’s Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) Cellink Plus Premier League competition continued on Friday at the Tucville ground.
Delon Williams of Fruta Conquerors scored in the 14th minute while Trevon Lythcott booted in the second goal in the 37th minute.
It was not until the 60th minute before Conquerors were to be fruitful in the second half when Neville Stanton found the back of the net to compound GFC’s misery. In the Sunburst Camp-town/Alpha United encounter Alpha United drew first blood in the 14th minute through a Shawn Bishop goal.
But in the very next minute 17-year-old Telson McKinnon’s tremendous strike got his team the equalizer.
But Elton Brown pushed Alpha ahead in the 22nd minute before Marvin Joseph beat the Alpha United goal keeper in the 42nd minute to level the scores once more.
The scoring pattern was disrupted when Rishawn Sandiford dusted one in two minutes later to give Sunburst Camptown the lead going into the second half.
However, a 65th-minute stunner from Andrew Murray jnr., saw the game ending tie.
This evening, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will be trying to set on Uprising FC beginning at 6pm while at 8pm Santos FC will be looking for their first victory of the tournament when they go up against Pele FC. (KB)
