A motorcyclist was killed in a suspected hit and run accident early yesterday morning at Providence.
Tameshwar Subryan, aged 25 years of Timerhi sustained severe injuries after being reportedly hit by a car at Providence, East Bank Deme-rara.
He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by a passing MMC vehicle but died a few hours later.
Hospital sources said that Subryan went in at around 1.30 am nursing serious injuries and succumbed around 3.30 am. At the time of his arrival at the hospital he was listed as an unknown person, but an identification card was later found on him.
A relative of the man reportedly turned up at the hospital yesterday and positively identified him. The police have been contacted and are investigating.
This newspaper was initially told that another man was also injured in the accident with Subryan and that he was in hospital unconscious. He had been admitted to the hospital nursing injuries around the same time as Subryan, according to reports. But when the man regained consciousness he had no idea who Subryan was and also had no recollection of being at Providence around that time. It is still not clear what happened to the man but he is in a stable condition at the hospital.
