Dear Editor,
So Wordsworth McAndrew has passed away. Mr Paul Harris in the Stabroek News of April 27 assigns to him an appropriate term: A National Treasure.
As I recall my interaction with this treasure, I cannot but say of him, he was capable of enriching lives by his excellent, unselfish display of interest in local writers, just one of the components of his rich and colourful contributions to us.
As I think of Wordsworth McAndrew, I think of John Donne:
Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for, thou art not soe,
For, those, whom thou think’st, thou dost overthrow
Die not, poore death…
(Divine Poems: Holy Sonnets: X)
This National Treasure will not be allowed to die… to let him die we cannot… too rich his life.
Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
