The junior selectors of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has called 32 players to trials for possible selection to represent Guyana at this year’s regional Under 19 tournament which is scheduled to be held in Barbados.
The selection of the final squad will be based on a series of three-day trial matches, the first of which will start tomorrow at the Malteenoes Sports Club MSC ground and with there being some nine vacant positions to be filled this year including the important role of captain, much can be expected from those selected for trials.
Those selected to participate in the first trial match are Royan Fredericks, Dellon Heyliger, Royston Alkins, Rovindra Parsram, Trevor Griffith, Imtiaz Ishmael, Andre Stoll, Denver Greaves, Dexter Solomon, Jonathan Foo, Seon Hetymyer, Herman Latcha, Eon Hooper, Triston Massena, Orin De Freitas, Keno Gravesande, Ryan Rajmangal, Keyron Fraser, Dennis Legay, Sahadeo Somai, Rajendra Nikbarran, Rajendra Ramkellawan, Collin Duke, Michael Felix.
The Essequibo and Berbice players are asked to report to the Cricket Board Hostel, Alberttown at 5:00 p.m today and the Demerara players to report to the MSC ground at 0900hrs tomorrow.
The eight not on show this week but who are expected to be in action in the other trial matches are: Balbinder Persaud, Leon Scott, Totaram Bishun, Anthony Bramble, Alex Amsterdam, Manoj Pooranauth, Eugene La Fleur, Keon Joseph
All players are asked to bring along their birth certificates.
