The new GAPSO president, who is also a practising attorney-at-law and a partner in the law firm of Moore, Harmon, Sobers and Gaskin, takes over the helm of the private security association from Roshan Khan of RK’s Security.
A press release from GAPSO said further that the other members of the new committee are Lt. Col. (rtd) Randy Storm (Banks DIH); Dougall Kirkpatrick (PGS); Major Roddy King (MMC); Terrence McKenzie (FMS); and Maurice Amres (GEB).
According to the release, in a vision statement which GAPSO members have accepted Gaskin outlined several measures aimed at broadening the involvement of members in the decision-making of the association as well as providing for the education and standardized training of security officers within the industry. Moreover, Gaskin envisages re-establishing a close working relationship with the Guyana Police Force and other disciplined services whereby the extensive network of private security sites may be used as sources of information and intelligence gathering for the disciplined services.
GAPSO has some 17 members consisting of private contracting companies and in-house security services, and represents approximately 4,500 security officers and security consultants.
