Tomorrow, seed padi will be sold at $5,500 per 140-lb bag at the Burma Rice Research Station, Mahaicony by the Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB).
The GRDB is encouraging all rice farmers to indicate to the Rice Extension Officers the amount of seed padi they will need for their crop; this approach will enable fair distribution of the available seed padi, the board said.
In its press release, the GRDB further said that it will continue to work with the rice farming community to facilitate the continued improvement of the rice industry which plays a significant role in the sustenance of Guyana’s economy.
