A 34-year-old man who allegedly broke and entered a store and carted off underwear and other items valued together $605,417 was yesterday taken before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Mark Edwards of 184 Robb and Cummings streets, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge of break and enter and larceny when it was read to him by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
It is alleged that between December 31 last year and January 10 Edwards broke and entered a store carting off 45 panties, 94 ladies nightwear, 64 gents underwear and a number of other items at a total value of $605,417.
Edwards told the court that he did not commit the crime because he was in jail at the time serving a three-year sentence.
However, the prosecution said that Edwards’s fingerprints were found at the scene of the crime.
Further, they objected to bail on the ground that the accused was wanted for other matters of a similar nature.
The accused was placed on $75,000 bail and the matter will continue on May 20 in Court Four.
