Dear Editor,
It is time that the President realized that outside recruitment of leadership/some ranks at better pay is the fastest way to improve security. The biggest problem with the current force is not a lack of weapons but motivation (pay/attitude) and leadership (training/professionalism). The GDF ‘jungle fighters’ could not clear and hold the Buxton backlands in previous years, and at the same time AK-47s were stolen from the GDF while the GPF was crying out for more firepower. Yes, better training, equipment and education is needed, but it can no longer be an excuse for poor security and police work. All the plans mean nothing unless the personnel are upgraded. The government continues to use the same ingredients and expect different results.
Yours faithfully,
