Stern action should be taken against cattle owners who allow their animals to wander along the highways where traffic is heavy. Many lives have been lost when animals are allowed to graze along the highways instead of in the open pastures. Some minibus drivers and even truck drivers have very little experience of how to control their vehicles when they are confronted with a herd of animals in their path.
The relevant authorities should look into this dangerous practice and owners should be prosecuted.
The highways are not pastures and people’s lives are in danger when these animals flock the roads. When animals are crossing the road, someone should be with them to guide them to allow a free flow of traffic. Three people have lost their lives and many others injured through no fault of their own because of the wanton carelessness of cattle owners. How sad for commuters to leave their homes to go on their errand hoping to return home to their loved ones safely and in one piece, and then to have their lives snuffed out by animals roaming the roads carelessly. Stray catchers should be employed to impound these animals and heavy penalties levied on the owners.
