Multi-talented athlete Kiev Chesney is all set to compete in next week-end’s Hampton games in Trinidad after receiving sponsorship from the Hand-In-Hand Fire and Life Insurance Company. Chesney, who is registered to compete in the 800m and high jump at the games, said that he was extremely grateful for the assistance that he has received from the company. “I can always trust in this company for financial assistance whenever I am attending a regional athletics meet,” he said.
“They were one of the only companies that assisted me last year when I was selected for the 2007 Carifta Games and although I was not able to attend, they funded my very next meet which was the Trinidad National Junior Championships and I am extremely grateful for their contributions towards my athletic development,” he added.
Joaquin, who is also the Head of the Parent Teachers Association of Queen’s College said that she knew of the athlete’s potential from his performances at the school’s inter-house championships while he was a student of Queen’s College and continues to follow his progress.
