Contrasting half centuries from Royan Fredericks and Seon Hetimyer saw Fredericks’s side to 350 – 8 from 86.4 overs on the second day of the second U-19 three day trial match at the Police Sports Club ground.
At the close of play yesterday, Royston Alkins’s XI were 85 – 5 in their second innings.
Fredericks and Hetimeyer stamped their authority on the day’s proceedings after resuming on their overnight score of 66–3 with Fredericks bringing up his fifty from 70 balls.
He batted for just under two hours and went on to make 88, hitting twelve fours and two sixes off 136 balls in a lengthy three-hour, 38- minute stay at the crease.
It took Hetimyer all of 111 balls to register his fifty and he then added a further 20 more runs slamming seven fours and a six before he was dismissed after batting for two hours and 11 minutes.
All rounder Jonathan Foo missed out on a half century when he was dismissed for 46 runs with the aid of two fours and one six.
Keron Fraser, Totaram Bishun and Royston Alkins all grabbed two wickets each for 31, 67 and 33 runs respectively as Ameer Khan and Sahadeo Somai picked up one wicket apiece.
With a deficit of 170 Alkins’ side lost the opening pair of Ryan Rajmangal (13) and Rajendra Nickbarran (14) cheaply.
Trevon Griffith, who had a half century in first innings was unfortunately run out for 21 whilst Balbindra Persaud stood firm until the close of play at 17:13 hrs to finished unbeaten on 26.
Delon Heyliger was the most successful bowler with 2 – 6 from three overs while Seon Daniels and Foo claimed 1 – 23 and 1 – 13 respectively.
