Dear Editor,
I am a proprietor in the Nos 67-74 Local Government District, Corentyne, who is very concerned that no action is being taken by the government ministries and departments responsible to prevent people from squatting and constructing buildings on government reserves located in the district, especially at the Nos 66-67 Villages.
From reliable sources I learnt of recent constructions under way on public land, which did not receive the official documentation from the relevant ministries and departments responsible for such affairs.
As a proprietor of the area, I call upon the President, ministries and departments responsible to take immediate steps to correct the situation. I am confident that the government does not condone squatting.
I also urge the government to return the parcel of land in the area between the residential area and the Corentyne River that was left after the Sea Defence dam was constructed, to its owners and their heirs.
Yours faithfully,
P Hemraj
