Why do we have to wait for the US to give us evidence on things which happened in Guyana?

Dear Editor,
Plato reminded us thus: “Truth is the body of God, and light his shadow.” I compliment our government for introducing the polygraph procedure (lie detector test) for certain CANU staff. This will help the nation to garner the truth about certain activities. Recall when I suggested this option after the Hinckson-Nandlall dispute about who said or did what, there was a stony silence from the administration; we need to know who was telling the truth. Now that such tests will be made available, it should help this nation to heal by knowing the truth.

I respectfully suggest a list be prepared by the Head of State on specific matters that bother many of us. If the administration wishes, I am certain some members of the public can help prepare a list of persons and issues that should be subjected to this test. For example, let us start with the Roger Khan saga; who are the ones here with the knowledge of his operations? Why should we await the US authorities to present us with evidence of things that allegedly took place here in Guyana – are we to surmise that our security forces were asleep all of this time, or are just plain incompetent?

Can we be told the truth about who or which agency first imported the sophisticated laptop electronic devices and illegal arms found. We can ask the head of security where this equipment is now, and whether it is in use or where the items are stored and under whose control. Let the truth be told to this nation – the whole truth.
Roger Khan’s full-page advertisement was sufficient for the police to have hauled this gentleman in with the same alacrity that they pulled in others who expressed opinions on security matters. Are we living in a society where it is different strokes for different folks? Or is Guyana today a living testimony to what Lowell once observed: “Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne”?
Please help us to heal with a dose of truth.
Yours faithfully,
Hamilton Green, JP
Mayor
