A driver working with the PNCR was yesterday held for the use of a loud speaker without permission and was released on station bail.
The detention of the driver led to reports that PNCR Leader Robert Corbin had been arrested and was being held at the Brickdam Police Station. This led to a number of people gathering outside the station demanding to know about his whereabouts.
Moments later Corbin arrived on the scene and following loud cheers from the group of women gathered explained that it was the driver of a vehicle belonging to the party who was arrested. The driver, using a loud speaker, was driving around announcing the party’s protest against the rising cost of living which continues today. He said the police told the driver that he did not have permission to use the loud speaker. He was released on station bail.
Corbin also told reporters yesterday that he felt that the police’s action was an attempt to undermine today’s protest.
