The assault and unlawful wounding cases against President of the Guyana Teachers Union, Colwyn King, were dismissed yesterday when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys dismissed both cases for want of prosecution. It was alleged that on September 30 last at Charlotte Street, King assaulted Onica Timmerman and on the same day at the Georgetown Public Hospital he unlawfully wounded Simone Timmer-man. He made his first court appearance on October 5 before Magistrate Gilhuys who released him on $25,000 bail after he denied the allegations. However, King missed his following two court proceedings, January 4 and March 27, and the magistrate had threatened to issue an arrest warrant for him if he failed to appear in court on March 28.
