Siblings Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani and Anissa Rodrigues came out champions in their respective divisions when action in the West Indian Sports Complex sponsored Guyana Badminton Association Junior badminton championships at the Queen’s College badminton courts continued on Wednesday.
In the boys’ Under-11 final, Narayan easily took care of Jordan Isaacs 21-2, 21-7 to win that division after defeating Diquan Naughton at 2 and 4 in the semi final.
Isaacs got the better of David Hohenkirk 21-17, 21-14 to advance to the final.
Hohenkirk took the third place spot after defeating Naughton 21-18, 17-21, 21-18. Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Lydia Alphonso 21-10, 21-14 to win the girls’ under-11 category. She had earlier won her semifinal match against Maya Persram 21-5, 21-11 whilst Alphonso got the better of Emma Vieira 21-10, 21-14.
Vieira defeated Persram 21-10, 21-14 in the third and fourth-place play-off.
Rodrigues won the girls’ Under-15 category with a 21-14, 21-5 victory over Tashana Lowe. In the semifinals, Rodrigues got the better of Pricilla Moore 21-11, 21-2 whilst Lowe defeated Tricia Ramjit 21-13, 21-5.Moore took third place with a 21-13, 21-14 victory over Ramjit.
