The recent poll conducted by Vishnu Bisram published in your newspaper on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 that showed Mr Ralph Ramkarran to be the people’s popular choice to succeed President Bharrat Jagdeo in 2011 represents the best hope for a country torn apart by racial animosity, corruption and crime.
Mr Ramkarran’s integrity and strength of character is well established among all races and strata in Guyana. These qualities make him the best choice if Guyana is to move forward.
Attempts by those with a self-serving interest in tarnishing his image will fall apart sooner or later. With the wind of change blowing in all directions a Ramkarran presidency as predicted by Bisram’s latest poll shows that the Guyanese electorate is knowledgeable and mature in their choice.
Apart from being a distinguished attorney, Mr Ramkarran has had an excellent record in public service being a long-standing member in the leadership of the PPP. He was also the secretary of a militant Bar Association in the ’80s, a member of Guyana’s Election Commission, Chairman of a bipartisan Constitution Reform Commission, and now speaker of the National Assembly.
Finally, I congratulate Mr Bisram on another successful poll and end by stating no other names mentioned fit Mr Ramkarran’s shoes.
