A 51-year-old father of five who allegedly caused the death of a man by driving dangerously was placed on $500,000 bail when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Ronald Farrier of Lot 50 Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving when it was read to him by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
It is alleged that on May 16 on Sheriff Street, Farrier drove motor vehicle PJJ 5552 in a manner dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of 64-year-old Nazim Ali.
According to reports, Ali was among a number of pedestrians, who were walking along Sheriff Street, when he was struck down by Farrier. Attorney-at-law Euclin Gomes represented Farrier and according to him Ali came suddenly into the path of the vehicle driven by his client. Farrier was placed on $500,000 bail and the matter is to continue on July 16.
