Dear Editor,
The drivers/conductors plying the Georgetown to Industry route have taken it upon themselves to increase the bus fare from $80 to $100 even though it has been publicly announced that there will be no increase in bus fares unless and until gas is $1000 per gallon. They are refusing to give back change from a $100 bill.
Industry is approximately 5 or 6 miles from Georgetown. Imagine I travelled to Enterprise a few days ago and the fare to that village is $120 (the regular fare). Enterprise is probably double the distance from Georgetown. I hope this letter comes to the attention of the Guyana Public Transportation Association or the Minibus Association or whoever deals with bus fare schedules.
Yours faithfully,
