Rain prevents play in UDFA competition

Once again, heavy rain which left the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in an unplayable condition in some areas, prevented any play in the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Banks DIH Coca-Cola sponsored first division competition on Sunday.

The organizers were in the same dilemma last Wednesday when heavy rains prevented any play in their second round fixtures.

In the matches that were slated for that day, Amelia’s Ward United were down to oppose Netrockers from 6pm whilst Milerock and winners Connections were to do battle in the feature game from 8pm and according to the secretary of the UDFA Rawle Blair, all rain-affected matches will be replayed at a later date.
“We have been waiting on this tournament for a while now.

But the conditions of the ground along with the rainy weather prevented the start of same. However, we are hoping for some improved weather to run off the remaining matches as well as those that were affected by the weather.”

However, weather permitting another double header is carded for this evening at the same venue. In the first game, winners Connections will face Silver Shattas from 6pm whilst Topp XX and Milerock will square off in the feature matchup from 8pm.
