Annandale Secondary School scored a whopping 359 points win over their opponents Richard Ishmael Secondary in the second round of the GBTI Inter-Secondary School Impromptu Speech competition for fourth formers.
Annandale scored 805 points against Richard Ishmael’s 446, a press release from Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited (GBTI) Regent Street Branch said.
The victors selected topics: ‘The importance of family’,’ Body piercing and tattoos’ and ‘The value of museums’ while Richard Ishmael chose ‘Education is the key to success!’, ‘Can one believe what one reads in the newspapers?’ and ‘How would you ease traffic congestions?’
In the second match School of the Nations beat last year’s winner President’s College (PC) by 40 points. Nations selected topics: ‘A dog is a man’s best friend!’, ‘If you could live any place in the world, where would you live and why?’ and ‘At what minimum age should a female marry?’ Nations scored 743 points.
Meanwhile, the PC team chose ‘Tell us the most difficult thing you have ever done and how you coped’, ‘What school subject is most useful in everyday life?’ and ‘We should return to the “simple” life!’ PC scored 703 points.
Bonita Hunter, John Tracey and Abiola Inniss judged the matches.
