New Ballers looking to continue old ways against Retrieve Raiders

A new basketball tournament for first-division clubs in the mining town of Linden will bounce off this evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, hard court from 7:30pm. Action in the New Ball-ers/Uprising Entertain-ment Independence knock-out tournament begins with South Star New Ballers taking on Alleyne Retrieve Raiders whilst Victory Valley Royals will go up against Patriots in the second game. The tournament will be contested between the eight first-division clubs from Linden.

Games will be played at two venues – the MSC hard-court and the Christianburg hard-court and will continue on Sunday, Friday and Saturday.

According to Dwayne `Sugar’ Roberts, fans can expect a tournament full of excitement whilst some lucky fans can find themselves winning great prizes throughout the tournament as the teams battle for $140,000 in cash and prizes. In the first match of tonight’s double-header, New Ballers look to continue their old wining ways against the Retrieve Raiders.

Having being promoted to the first-division, they will be looking to solidify themselves and, with players of the calibre of Eon Reddock and Randy Grant, will look to dominate Raiders one of the premier first-division clubs in Linden. The Raiders lineup will include Mark Peters and Louis James. In the second match, Victory Valley Royals will look to prey on another second-division club namely Patriots, who, like New Ballers, were just promoted to the first-division.
Prior to these matches, there will be an opening ceremony which begins at 6:30pm with a showcase of the participating teams. 
The tournament continues at the Christianburg Hard Court on Sunday with Kashif and Shanghai Kings taking on the Amelia’s Ward Jets followed by GTS Bulls matching horns with Wismar Pistons.
