Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh is scheduled to attend the 38th annual meeting of the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CBD) Board of Governors in Halifax, Canada on May 28 and 29.
According to a GINA press release, Singh will speak on the Guyana government’s efforts to contribute to the development of the region at the meeting, which will be attended by Caribbean heads of government, ministers of finance and development, central bank governors and representatives of international organizations and Canadian financial institutions.
The Board of Governors is the highest policy-making body of the CDB, the release said and its annual meeting is used to review results, challenges and goals.
The meeting is also an opportunity for the international community to discuss Caribbean development issues.
The release noted that Canada and the Caribbean have a special relationship based on a long history of close commercial, cultural, political and other ties.
