Scotiabank’s 40th anniversary medal play golf tournament will be played off today (Independence Day) after rain late last week left the Lusignan Golf Course under water.
Organisers were forced to reschedule the tournament after an inspection of the course Saturday morning.
With improved weather over the past two days, the golf course is expected to be back in good condition.
The tournament, regarded as one of the big events on the local golf calendar, is expected to attract a strong field of at least 30 golfers in the one-day event.
The field is expected to include Brian Hackett, Esau Shamsudin, Ian Gouveia, Patrick Prashad, Chatterpaul Deo, Raj Sankar, Ian Gouveia, Gavin Todd, Ronald Bulkhan, Mel Sankies, Alfred Mentore, Mike Guyadin, Melissa Humphrey, Joann Deo, Dr. Ram Singh, Christine Sukhram, Imran Khan and Dinanauth Mohanlall.
Several attractive prizes will be up for grabs and all the players and guests will be provided with refreshment.
All participants will also receive a special anniversary gift.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, best gross score as well as nearest to the flag at hole number eight.
Scotiabank Country Manager, Amanda St. Aubyn and other officials of the company are expected to be at the presentation ceremony.
Assembly time is 12:20 for a tournament rule briefing before the tee-off at 12:30 hours.
