Carib Masters Football team received the winner’s prize for the just concluded Coca Cola Masters Football League at the Presentation Ceremony yesterday at Thirst Park.
The Carib Masters edged out GT All Stars on goal difference for the top spot after both teams ended on 18 points.
Pele Masters secured third place with 15 points while Georgetown Football Club (GFC) claimed the fourth position.
Nine teams participated in the tournament organized by Twilight Masters Football Club and sponsored by beverage giants Banks DIH Ltd.
Tournament coordinator former national captain Gordon “Ultimate Warrior” Braithwaite thanked Banks DIH for its sponsorship of the tournament which brought together several of the country’s veterans.
Banks DIH Communica-tions Manager, Troy Peters, said that the tournament was very competitive as it featured some of the stars of yesteryears in friendly rivalry.
He, however, expressed disappointment at some of the players not attending the presentation ceremony to receive their awards.
Carib Masters carted off the Coca Cola Trophy plus $200,000, while GT All Stars copped a trophy and $125,000 with $75,000 and a trophy going to the Pele Masters while GFC took home $40,000 and a trophy.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) prize went to Wayne St. Jules of Carib Masters who was the recipient of a trophy and a pair of football boots while his teammate Ion Nedd who was voted the Best goal-keeper received a pair of boots and a pair of goal-keeping gloves.
Hector Forte of Twilight Masters who scored seven goals in the tournament won the Highest Goal scorer prize of a trophy and a pair of boots.
Wayne Poulis also of Twilight Masters, St. Jules, Octlive Graham of Carib Masters and Kevin Leander of GFC scored four goals each in the League.
The other competing teams were Thomas United, Rasta Patriarch, Western Tigers and Santos.
