-says more youth participation needed
Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai noted the development in Region One during her Independence visit at Barabina; however, she voiced concerns about the lack of youth participation in community development.
According to a Government Information agency (GINA) press release Sukhai used the occasion to interact and familiarize herself with some of the region’s activities and development plans, particularly at Barabina. She was accompanied by her Liaison Officer Norman Whittaker. Sukhai met with residents at the Barabina Primary School and they informed her of their achievements in securing schools, health centre, better roads, water and electricity supply.
