Tariq Immamdeen rode away with Open category of the 2008 Mayor’s Independence cycle road race held on Sunday from Crabwood Creek road end to the Corriverton Arch then back to the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry building at number 78 Village, Corentyne for the finish.
The five-mile event, organized by the Corriverton Town Council, saw 12 cyclists facing Mayor Roy Baijnauth at the starting point at 1pm following which Immamdeen rode away from his other competitors in the Open category. Second was Dwight Holder with Marvin Henry third.
Henry also topped the under-15 category ahead of Naseen Jaundoo and Nawaz Alli respectively.After the race, the cyclists were presented with trophies and cash incentives compliments of the race sponsors namely Baijnauth, Papi Supermarket, Sukhpaul Service Station, Pawroo Hardware Store, Reno Disco and Lucenth Supermarket.
