Junior table tennis sensation Trenace Lowe is hoping to participate in the International Table Tennis Federation’s Junior World and Latin American Junior and Cadet Championships in Colombia from June 13-25.
“I am really looking forward to playing at these two tournaments in Colombia. They are very important to me because my performance there will determine if I qualify for the World Championships and that is something that I long to accomplish,” she told Stabroek Sport yesterday.
As far as training is concerned Lowe said, “Well I have not gotten the chance to do my own individual training as I would like but I will start that first thing next week.”
“However,” she added, “I have been competing in the Independence tournament for the last few weeks and that is providing good competitive experience for me.”
Lowe also said that if she gets the opportunity to attend the tournaments she will be looking to give a strong performance as it will be her first tournament playing under the sponsorship of Xxtreme Support Services.
“After playing in the Caribbean Championships, I attracted the sponsorship of Xxtreme Support Services and they have agreed to sponsor my gear, providing things such as balls, rubbers for my rackets, uniforms, warm-up suits and all the equipment that I will need for the next year.”
“I am extremely grateful,” Lowe said, since this will her first event playing with their name branded on everything she wears. “I will do by best not only for myself but to uphold the company’s image,” she assured.
Apart from sponsoring her gear, Xxtreme Support Service, a new firm that does customer care services for online gaming, has also donated US$300 towards her trip which is estimated to cover a third of her airfare.
However, the Guyana Table Tennis Association, Lowe and the other top players who are hoping to attend the tournament in Colombia are still looking to attract sponsorship for this costly but important tournament from corporate Guyana.
