A 43-year-old woman was placed on $50,000 bail when she appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm. It is alleged that on May 27 Jillian Syrvel of 3675 North Ruimveldt assaulted her nephew Gavin Lovell, resulting in him suffering a fractured arm. Lovell was absent from court yesterday.
The woman’s lawyer Abiola Wong-Inniss told the court that her client had gone to the young man’s home to ask him if he had taken some items from her. However, when he opened the door he started to assault her.
A scuffle ensued and Lovell fell to ground resulting in the fracture of his arm. The lawyer said that Syrvel suffered a sprained index finger also.
She also said that Lovell had indicated that he did not want to continue with the matter but the magistrate said he has to so inform the court himself.
The magistrate placed her on $50,000 bail and set the matter for report on June 10.
