With reference to the letter, ‘Guysuco will not stand in the way of the community renovating Leonora Park’ (SN, 28.5.08), I am happy to see that Guysuco has indicated that it would not stand in the way of the renovation of the historic Leonora Park.
However, noting the composition of the community group suggested by Mr Ali, the local ‘party’ operative, in the 2007 letter to Guysuco, it is clear that this will be another ‘party’ affair, and the likes of Mr Vaidram Persaud, despite their well-meaning lobbying may be banished from any meaningful role in the task. What a shame!
