Dear Editor,
While I can understand the reasons why the governing PPP/C would want to keep hold of the radio monopoly in Guyana it is imperative that President Jagdeo free the radio spectrum. Hanging onto the radio monopoly makes it look as if the President is afraid, and as if the governing party needs to control and to broadcast propaganda.
With the President’s ideal of justice I believe that he needs to do the right thing, as he should have done in April/May 2001. Making the radio a free medium is essential for creating better institutions than the ones the present government inherited, and I do like the idea that there will be more free media in Guyana able to do investigative reporting.
