Dear Editor,
I wish to thank and congratulate the USAID Guyana Democratic Consolidation and Conflict Resolution (GDCCR) for the training I received in basic mediation.
The four-day advanced mediation training course is a joint government of Guyana-US government project tailored to address disputes and issues that may arise in community-based and court connected mediation.
There were 24 Justices of the Peace and Toshaos from the various regions of Guyana who attended and received certificates; among them were Sachie Ramnauth, Deolatchmee Ramotar, Derek Gulcharran, Parmanand Sukhu, Nasir Ally, Samuel Dasraj, Shirley Edwards, Mohamed Khan, Philip Matthews, Ruel Ferdinand, Pariag Sukhai, Jalallodeen Baksh, Thofa Alexander, James George, Albert James, Dhanrajh, Desmond Morian, Colin Andrews, Aubry Samuels, Oliver Payne, Nobrego Williams, Valerie De Young, Hermon Bholaisingh and Vincent Emmanuel.
I sincerely wish to thank the two facilitators/lecturers, Dr Steve Weller and Mr Richard Moore of the MDR Associates Conflict Resolution Inc of Ontario, Canada, along with the local facilitators (attorney/mediators) who were trained as trainers by the said consultants, and Ms Gloria Richards-Johnson, Chief of Party for the USAID GDCCR project.
Yours faithfully,
Parmanand Sukhu, JP/COA
