Dear Editor,
It is with great shock that I read in your newspaper of Tuesday, June 4, 2008 that Mr Robert Corbin’s life had been threatened. On Thursday May 29, the Leader of the PNCR received an anonymous phone call which in essence said that if he did not desist from talking about Roger Khan he would be killed.
This is disgraceful in any democratic society like Guyana, where we should have freedom of expression. This threat to the Leader of the Opposition’s life reminds me of George Bacchus who was brutally killed for enlightening us about crime in our society a few years ago and we should not sit idly by and allow history to repeat itself. In this case there is a need for the government to act immediately to protect Mr Corbin.
