Dear Editor,
It is no secret that I have written extensively in favour of Mr Roger Khan, despite the accusations levelled against him. I have written especially regarding his legal rights as a citizen of Guyana.
Moreover, I have written at a time when the legal and political leaders in Guyana have conveniently chosen to be mute, a virtue among these leaders used to free them of constitutional and administrative responsibilities.
Nevertheless, I ask those who have issued a death threat against Mr Robert Corbin, Leader of the Opposition and the PNC, should he continue to comment on Mr. Roger Khan, to retract this death threat.
I do not agree with the often selective criticism about Mr Roger Khan for which Mr Robert Corbin and/or the PNC has been responsible. Yet, as Leader of the Opposition, he has a job to do. As a Guyanese, he is entitled to a basic right (free speech) even though Mr Corbin and the PNC have refused to condemn the rendition of Mr Khan, likewise a Guyanese.
More importantly, we the people cannot afford such a dangerous and unwarranted edict, and neither can anyone in whose name such edict has been issued.
Again: I have written extensively in favour of Mr. Roger Khan. For what it is worth, I hope someone is listening.
Yours faithfully,
Rakesh Rampertab
