The police on Monday conducted a search on a house at Adelphi, Canje, Berbice and found 21 12-gauge cartridges and six rounds .32 ammunition, as investigations continue into an armed robbery committed on a family there earlier Monday morning.
Four men were arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations, Police said in a press release yesterday.
Paul Boodhoo, an overseas-based Guyanese, and relatives he was staying with at Adelphi, East Canje were beaten and robbed of cash and a quantity of gold jewellery around 12:45 am. The gunmen fired shots after robbing them.
Boodhoo was robbed of US$800 and a wedding band worth $20,000, while relative Ganesh Premchand was stripped of a chain valued $20,000 and $40,000 and his wife Anawattie Singh of jewellery worth $400,000.
