Courts Inc and King’s Jewelry World assist power lifting athletes

Mervyn ‘Spongy’ Moses and John ‘Big John’ Edwards moved a step closer to making their participation in the 6th Annual North American Region and 3rd Tournament of the Americas Powerlifting Championships a reality when they received sponsorship from Courts Guyana Inc and King’s Jewelry World.

A total of G$ 180,000 (US $900)in sponsorship was yesterday received by the members of the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Association (GAPA) to assist in complete attaining of funds for the airfare, meals and accommodation for the upcoming events.

Yesterday at the Courts Guyana Inc., a cheque of G$ 120,000 was handed over by the Country Manager of Courts Guyana Inc. Lester Alvis, who was accompanied by Marketing Manager Molly Hassan while the two athletes were also present.

Hassan said Courts was very pleased to help these athletes and immediately responded after being contacted by the association learning that the two athletes were in a quest to represent Guyana.

Over at King’s Jewelry World in another simple presentation, Director of the establishment Rohandev Persaud handed over a cheque of US$300 (G$ 60,000) while wishing the athletes the best in the upcoming championships.

Subsequently, Moses told Stabroek News that Edwards and he were very thankful for the support received from the business entities in assisting them to participate in the championships.
