The three persons who were held last week in connection with the acid attack on attorney-at-law Gaumatie Singh have been released from police custody.
This was confirmed yesterday by Crime Chief Seelall Persaud.
A police source had informed this newspaper that the former target squad rank and the two women were released on station bail by investigators on Sunday and have been instructed to report to the police three times a week.
Further, Stabroek News has been told that the file on the case has been sent to the chambers of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
Last week Tuesday law enforcement authorities held one of Singh’s former employees, a woman who is involved in a forgery matter in the High Court and the policeman, who is said to be connected to the car that the assailant fled in.
Meanwhile, a relative said yesterday that Singh appears to be recovering at the private hospital in Trinidad where she had undergone two surgeries, one of which was done to save her right eye which was seriously damaged by the acid.
The relative was unable to give additional information since he said the doctors are not allowing many visitors.
Following her first surgery on May 30, doctors had told Singh’s relatives that they are confident that she will not lose the eye and will make a full recovery.
