– Linden b/ballers successfully defend home court against East Bank U-23 males and GT females
It mattered not where their opponents hailed from last Saturday at the Mackenzie Sports Complex basketball court Linden as the home teams held their turf and claimed victories against the East Bank Under-23 males 59-43 and the Georgetown females 40-29.
The Linden campaigners were backed by a healthy turnout of basketball fans for this Guyana Amateur Basketball Inter Sub-Association match-up, who cheered their teams’ every success.
The two teams in-turn flourished, capitalizing on the benefit of home-court advantage and making quick work of the visiting teams.
In the feature game of the evening, Orlan Glasgow turned up to heat to register a game high of 18 points to lead the formidable Linden U-23 male side to a comfortable 16-point victory against East Bank.
Chris Williams chipped in with 14 points for Linden while Drexel Aaron and Tariq Cave led East Bank’s futile attempt, registering 10 and nine points respectively.
Nicola Jacobs and Natasha Alder were the outstanding female players for Linden and Georgetown respectively.
The GABF Inter Sub-Association Championships will continue this weekend with games in Georgetown at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Saturday and in New Amsterdam on Sunday.
