Three men being questioned
Fifteen-year-old Sheliza Khan, whose battered and nude body was found on the Hope Estate Road last Sunday morning, died as a result of shock and haemorrhage due to blunt trauma to the head.
Meanwhile, the police have three males in custody, including the young man who had reportedly threatened Khan telling her that he would kill her if he could not have her. The police are also looking for a fourth man whose cellular phone the girl had in her possession. It is not clear how the two other young men are connected to the case. The neighbour with whom the young woman left her home is also still in police custody.
Khan left her home stating that she was going to purchase Chinese food in Mahaica but she and her friend ended up at a popular night spot in the area. From there it is believed that the young woman left in the company of a number of young men. The friend had said that she had gone to answer her cellular phone and upon her return the girl was gone.
The police had believed that the young woman had been shot because spent shells were found in the area where her body was discovered. However, the post-mortem found no evidence of gunshot wounds on her body.
Khan will be buried tomorrow and her entire funeral expense will be taken care of by the Ministry of Human Services & Social Security.
