The Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club (CSTC) has observed and made it public that the Olympic Sport of Race Walking is quietly growing in popularity both as a leisure activity and a competitive sport in Guyana.
CSTC Coordinator Ogla Harry announced the club will be holding its 4th Race Walk month of activities during the month of August under the theme “Protecting and Building Guyana through Sports”.
The main Race Walk will be a two-day, three-stage event in the ‘Land of the Lakes’, Essequibo commencing at the Supenaam Health Centre and concluding at the Xenon Hotel, Charity.
As a means of stimulating the growth of the Sport of Race Walking the club will be assisting in the forming of Race Walking Clubs in all ten administrative regions as well as in Government Ministries and Agencies, Churches, Business entities, schools and other educational institutions.
The club promises that the month’s events are expected to attract massive overseas participation and it will be launched on August 2nd with a ceremony at the Club’s Headquaters Back Road, Soesdyke.
Along with Race Walks activities will include workshops, exhibitions as well as sessions on HIV/AIDS with the environment being a part of the activities.
