COURTS (Guyana) Incorporated continued its partnership with the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) when at a simple ceremony held in their Main Street store showroom, they handed over $300,000.00 towards  that entity Caricom boxing meet.

Prior to the presentation of the cheque which will be used for the middleweight clash between Denny “Deadly’ Dalton and Howard Eastman at meet entitled ‘Judgement Day’, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Courts Guyana Incorporated Zeya Nasir-Ramnauth expressed her company’s elation at being associated with the GBBC in the presence of Director of Purchasing and Customer Relations (Courts) Clyde de Haas, president of the GBBC Peter Abdool, Marketing Executive (Courts) Molly Hassan and member of the GBBC Trevor Arno. “Courts Guyana Inc. is elated at being associated with GBBC in this venture. We are pleased to contribute the astonishing sum of $300,000.00 towards the national middleweight championship clash featuring Dalton and Howard.” She added:

“We are pleased to be associated with this endeavour and highly applaud the initiative taken by the GBBC. This venture further allows us to be true to our word of adding value every day and with the  upkeeping of our social responsibilities towards the further development of sports in Guyana.”

De Haas also made brief remarks and told those gathered that Courts was always eager to do donations  like that and urged the GBBC to do their best not only for this card, but also in the future. In his response, Abdool thanked Courts for their generosity and also took the time to inform the media that the World Boxing Council (WBC) will be placing the International version of the heavyweight belt on the line in the female match- up featuring Pamela London and Veronica Blackman.

“Eastman has never fought in Guyana before and this bout is an opportunity for Guyanese boxing fans to have a look at him in action. At first we thought we had to cancel the bout when frank (Rawle) picked up the back injury, but Eastman answered the call to take on Dalton for the national middleweight championship.” He further added” London and Blackman will be vying for the WBC International belt in their female clash up on a card that will be televised live.

The decision to carry live televised coverage will not affect the gates due to the environment of the boxing.” “Our reason for the live coverage which is a first in local boxing history here in Guyana is the opportunity to give to the sponsors the necessary mileage not only leading up to the fight, but also on the night of the card.”Abdool also stated that another card was being looked at during the staging of Carifesta X here in Guyana. This card is being promoted by Odinga Lumumba and will see Frank once he has fully recovered from his injury and Andrew ‘Six head’ Lewis facing each other in the main bout.
