Former President Arthur Chung will be laid to rest on Monday at a state funeral at the National Cultural Centre and a public viewing of the late leader’s body is scheduled for Sunday at the same venue.
On Sunday the body will be at the cultural centre from 10 am to 2 pm and a book of condolence will be opened, a release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said last evening
The funeral service will be on Monday from 10 am after which the former President would be interred at the Seven Ponds at the Botanical Gardens.
Chung, who was Guyana’s first President and served the country from 1970 to 1980, died earlier this week following multiple medical complications. He was 90.
