Participants at the first HIV/AIDS workshop hosted by the Youth Association for Solidarity and Friendship were urged to take their knowledge back to their communities.
In a press release the group said participants drawn from regions three, four and ten were also exposed to sessions on STIs, stigma and discrimination and understanding and caring for the body. The sessions were facilitated by Guyana Red Cross Society peer educators Abigail Brower and Toanna Dazzell. The workshop was held from June 13-15 at Camp Madewini. It was coordinated by President of the Association Peter Livingstone Simmons. The Association is located at Tucville.
Meanwhile, a special committee meeting was held during the week where the Association decided to initiate a school uniform project. The Association will also seek other groups’ participation on poverty reduction projects to benefit less fortunate persons. A special committee was also established to coordinate activities for the Association’s annual Christmas party.
