A vagrant, who frequented the Alberttown area, died yesterday morning outside a Fifth Street home, much to the consternation of residents.
Residents explained that the man smoked marijuana frequently and suffered from “fit-like” symptoms. They said they saw the man stagger to the spot in front of the house around 11.30 am and he sat down there for a short while groaning in pain. “Next thing we know he dead,” one resident said.
When this newspaper arrived at the scene at approximately 12.15 pm yesterday, the police were carrying out investigations. According to them, they were not yet aware of the circumstances surrounding the man’s death nor were they yet able to identify him. The dead vagrant was said to be of African descent with dreadlocks. His body was taken to the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour.
