TCL Guyana says Parfait Harmonie residents benefited from a number of giveaways and a wealth of knowledge when it hosted its second ‘Cement Tent’ two Saturdays ago.
In a press release the company said the event aimed at informing builders and homeowners about the quality of its product as well as answering questions about quality and usage. At the opening TGI Plant Manager Mark Bender said the company guarantees every bag of cement purchased as it has maintained quality testing and other services over 53 years.
Meanwhile, one lucky homeowner walked away with enough cement and tools to build a walkway in her yard after residents, including those from nearby communities participated in mixing demonstrations. Other participants received wheelbarrows, spades, buckets and cement and were able to purchase cement at a reduced cost from a mobile cement truck that was at the event. In response residents said they were grateful for the exercise as many of them are currently building their homes and environs.
The release said too a symbolic sack of cement was handed over to Habitat Home partner Randolph Lafleur.
Lafleur said he was grateful that more families will be given the opportunity to have their own homes as he has through the TGI-Habitat partnership, especially with TGI’s increased contribution.
Additionally Region Three Regional Chairman Julius Faerber lauded TCL Guyana’s efforts. He said Saturday’s exercise was particularly beneficial and will ensure that homeowners are able to assess the quality of the products used in building their homes.
The release said TGI plans to host similar events at Rose Hall Town, Bartica, Parika, Paradise, Tuschen and Linden.
