After much anticipation GT&T launched its new line of cellular phones, ‘The Bird’ with much pomp and ceremony yesterday.
‘The Bird’ was unveiled after a string of advertisements that had for weeks, teased the public about what it might be. Short viewpoints from the public on what they imagined ‘The Bird’ to be were also aired, providing a bit of amusement as persons said they thought it might have been a new airplane – Delta Airlines, a girl, a laptop computer or something to do with Carifesta.
Director of Marketing and Sales Wystan Robertson then gave a brief overview pf the product. He said GT&T started the year by commissioning its first cellular site at Mahdia and the company has also instituted a 99-cent per text message rate which has seen a 300% rise in texting. Robertson said these promotions and the new site are indications of the company’s progressiveness and commitment to providing quality service to its customers.
Robertson said launching the new phones is a move to ensure that customers have a variety of handsets to choose from. He said too that starting Tuesday GT&T will have ‘The Bird’ line of phones available. They are expected to retail at less than $30,000.
Following Robertson’s address the GT&T models displayed the phones catwalk style, allowing the media and special invitees to see the flock of five ‘Birds’ for the first time. The company is offering five phones in the Bird Line: the S700, F501, F518, V750 and the V788. Robertson said too about 50 million customers use the Bird line of gear worldwide.
