The Guyana Teachers’ Union (GTU) in collaboration with the AL Sports and Tour promotions has put on a two day encampment at the GTU dormitory this weekend as preparation for the Girls’ Windball 20/20 home and away series later this month.
The 17 girls that began encampment this Friday are: Stacy St. Hill, Shemika Neblett, Deon Paddy, Ashlin Rankin, Nekisha Madramottoo, Trishanie Cort, Shanna Vanderstoop, Shenella Mc Bean, Shericka Campbell, Naflana Mc Kenzie, Kelly Mc David, Leana Harris, Maryam Persaud, Mawiyah Persaud, Kumarie Blagwandin, Jehanne King and Kimberly Doris.
According to a press release from the GTU the girls will have to endure basic drills and technique training with Coach Edward Kwabena and an intense conditioning with fitness Trainer Kwabena Wright. Their home match will be against a visiting Trinidad and Tobago team on the 27th of this month and their away match will be in Trinidad during the first week in August.
The girls were selected based on the performance at the recently concluded national wide primary school windball competition and hail from Leguan, Corentyne, West Demerara, East Coast/ Bank Demerara, Essequibo Coast, Linden & Georgetown.
