The Yonex Badminton Club will tour Trinidad from August 1-10 to participate in the Caribbean Club Cup Junior Tournament organised by the Sonic and Malick Badminton Clubs of Trinidad.
According to president of the Yonex Badminton Club, Gokarn Ramdhani, the tournament was organized to help keep the players in form after the postponement of the Caribbean Junior Championships.
Ramdhani said the postponement of the championships was a great disappointment to the players some of whom would find themselves in a higher age category next year.
According to Ramdhani, the club aims to send at least 10-15 players to the tournament which is expected to attract players from around the Caribbean.
The Yonex team is expected to include top players such as Nicholas Ali, Avian Rodrigues and Narayan Ramdhani (boys) and Anissa Rodrigues, Tashana Lowe, Priscilla Moore and Priya Ramdhani (girls).
Ramdhani, who accompany the team as manager/coach said training sessions will start tomorrow on weekdays at the Queen’s College auditorium.
He added that depending on the availability of the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, the club might be able to have morning sessions there.
