Thirty-two-year-old Rayo Khan allegedly stole 50 Digicel phone cards, cigarette lighters and cartoons of cigarettes from his former employer Mahadeo Persaud, between June 26 and July 4.
He had pleaded guilty to the charge but the magistrate changed his plea to not guilty after he offered an explanation to the court. Khan said that he had not stolen the items, but “a lil boy thief it and put it in meh bag.”
Meanwhile, John Beckles was charged with larceny from the person.
It is alleged that on July 4 he stole one shoulder bag containing a cell phone, a pair of spectacles and $56,000 from Melinda Trotman.
Beckles was placed on $40,000 bail and returns to court on July 24. Khan was remanded since, according to the prosecution, he has given no proper address to the court.
