The 14-year-old West Ruimveldt boy, who vanished shortly after he was hit by a car on Tuesday afternoon, returned home early yesterday morning.
Sandrine Williams, mother of Jason Pilgrim, told Stabroek News yesterday afternoon via telephone that her son returned home at approximately 6 am yesterday. Jason, she said, told her that he was at her friend’s house in Bel Air. Williams had feared the worst after her son had not returned and after she had received reports of how badly injured he was.
Pilgrim told his mother that on the day of the accident the taxi driver took him to the hospital and ensured that he received medical attention. The woman said her son reiterated everything the driver had told the police on Wednesday evening.
“Everything the driver say was true because is the same thing Jason come home and tell me,” Williams said. “He was at my friend house in Bel Air and then he left there and went to another friend house and slept last night [Wednesday] before he return home,” she explained.
Williams said her friend in Bel Air had tried to contact her but with no success. When asked why her son did not return home immediately Williams said Jason told her that he was in a lot of pain.
She said her son told her that he had gone home on Tuesday but she was not there and he decided to go to her friend’s house in Bel Air where he spent Tuesday night.
After he left the Bel Air house, Williams said, he went to another house not too far away to rest because he was in a lot of pain at the time.
The woman said she would not be pressing for charges against the driver because he was kind and cooperative. “I decided to take Jason to the hospital yesterday for a general check up and the driver had a relative accompany me and they took care of all the expenses,” Williams said. “The doctor told me that Jason is fine but he gon feel some pain for the next four days.”
Williams said she would have a serious discussion with Jason about the matter. She said that she has had some trouble with the boy in the past but he has been “behaving himself” for a while. “I am just happy and relieved that he is home and well,” she said.
